CCC&Y would like to announce it’s support for the CCC override.
Coconino Community College (CCC) is currently facing many budget dilemmas and may have to consider significant program reductions, including potentially eliminating one or more core missions should the override not pass in the regular election this coming November 5th.
CCC’s core missions included in the potential elimination include: Arts and Science courses for transfer and transition, including programs such as CCC2NAU; career and technical education which makes up to 51 percent of Coconino County firefighters, 43 percent of criminal justice professionals, and 42 percent of the counties nurses and paramedics; finally, workforce training that assists in keeping jobs in Coconino County through business and employee training is at risk.
Coconino Coalition for Children and Youth (CCC&Y) encourages your YES vote on the CCC override ensuring a quality, skilled workforce, increased family independence, and economic sustainability in Coconino County.
CCC&Y is particularly supportive of CCC’s provision of dual credit opportunities for high school students, giving them a jump start to their secondary education, future careers, and saving money.
CCC provides Coconino County with education, and services in critical areas which are essential to a successful, thriving community. Community colleges are unique, affordable educational institutions where young people and families gain opportunities to improve their quality of life, raise their bottom line, and gain useful tools and knowledge to be active, engaged members of the community.
The property tax override asks for a temporary seven-year override with a price of $4.5 million per year. That means an increase in $29 per year on a home valued at $100,000 in Coconino County.
Let’s not jeopardize yet another affordable educational resource and pathway for family independence. CCC is a critical educational resource. Vote YES in support of the CCC override.
