In Arizona only 70% of students graduate from high school. Of those students roughly half of them even qualify to get into a state college. This means that too few Arizona students are not prepared for college, career and life. Expect More Arizona has taken the pledge to support the thousands of educators and families across the state in promoting higher expectations for all children, so they are prepared for life after high school. It starts by making education a top priority in Arizona so that educators and children have the support they need. Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards (Common Core) and an aligned assessment will raise expectations so all Arizona kids are prepared to succeed.
Expect More Arizona supports the implementation of these standards and a new assessment which is why we’ve partnered with the Arizona Public Engagement Task Force to launch Arizona Aims Higher, a new campaign to help parents, educators, and community and business leaders learn more and to take action to support the standards and assessment. Expect More Arizona’s Arizona Public Engagement Task Force is working to lead communications, outreach and advocacy efforts in support of the College and Career Ready Standards and assessments and have recently launched, Arizona Aims Higher, a new campaign to help parents, educators, and community and business leaders learn more and take action.
Seven out of 10 likely voters in Arizona voiced support for implementation of Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards, after hearing a short description of what they’re all about. Results of a new survey also showed that more than two-thirds (67 percent) favor implementation of a new test that is aligned to the standards. However, nearly 60 percent of Arizonans know very little about the standards.
Show your support for every child to get the education by signing the Arizona Aims Higher pledge, and learn more about how you can get involved HERE.
